How to store full gas cylinders?

Depending on the type of gas and the quantity that will be stored, the installation will be different. It may be unclassified, subject to declaration or authorisation.

Gas cylinders must always be stored in an upright position, without their regulators and on a stable support. This will prevent the gas from escaping in liquid form, and thus avoid the risk of fire.

There are a few important rules to consider when handling and storing your cylinders:

Any person called upon to handle or use gas must undergo specific training and wear safety shoes, as well as handling gloves.

Use a bottle trolley, and if this is not possible, roll the bottle by holding it by the cap.

Secure the bottles at their top to prevent them from falling. Be careful never to hold a falling bottle.

Preferably transport cylinders of acetylene and liquefied gas (propane, carbon dioxide, etc.) in an upright position.

Protect your bottles as much as possible from the sun's rays.

Place the bottles away from any contact with oils or fats.

Store your bottles vertically and attached, preferably outdoors, or at least in a room provided for this purpose, and well ventilated.

In the event of indoor storage, the electrical installation, and in particular the lighting, must be adapted to the nature of the gases.

For cylinders that will be stored for a long time, when the time comes to use them, you will need to wipe the valve outlet with a clean cloth, and purge the outlet channel of the valve valve to remove dust.
